On March 10th Alin & I celebrated 10 years of marriage. TEN YEARS. I still can’t believe it myself. If you were to ask me at 19 years old, when I married him, that I would be THIS happy ten years later, I would have never been able to imagine it or I would have thought you were crazy. Four kids later and many MANY obstacles, I can honestly say I am happier than I have ever been. I love this man with all of my being and cannot wait to see what the next ten years bring us.
I have always wanted to visit the Pacific Northwest. In fact it has been on my “One Day” Teux Deux list for a couple of years now. After shooting a wedding in Portland where we stayed with his uncle, Alin & I rented a car and drove to Vashon Island where we spent three nights in a seabluff cottage, just a ferry ride away from Seattle. Charming as all heck, this cottage. After that, we drove to Vancouver and spent 3 nights in a bright modern condo in the downtown Yaletown area. EVERY night was “happening” in downtown Vancouver no matter what time of night it was and it was so interesting to experience that. It almost felt like Paris when we were there 10 years ago for our honeymoon. We then took a half day to drive up to the top of Mount Seymour and hike a few trails which was new for me. To be honest, I was terrified the entire time. I have a lot of crazy phobias and in this case I was afraid of crossing paths with a bear or being in too remote of an area all by ourselves. But I was happy we did it and that I was able to get through it.
Another great part of our Vancouver trip was meeting a few photographer friends of mine for an evening of fun and laughter. I’ve known some of them for a while over email, Twitter, Facebook, & Flickr but have never met them. I was happy to finally be able to give them all hugs and put real faces to the computer screens avatars and voices to the words I’ve read. Jakob, Cole, Michael, Sachin, and Amber, thank you for “having a laugh” [end inside joke] with us.
Overall this was a trip we’ll never forget. The photos here are in no real particular order. Just random shots I took throughout our time there. If you’re interested in a location or person in an image, just hover over it and a caption (of sorts) will pop up.
Enjoy.
