Waynesville Wedding Photographer – Kristen & Dale – Mountain Wedding – Part One

So we shot Kristen & Dale’s wedding at a beautiful private mountain home in Waynesville. For that day, I felt as though I were in another country. The scenery was breathtaking. Like we were in some french countryside or something. There was a water wheel over a pond covered in water lilies and a wooden roped swing that hung lonely from a tree -I mean, truly storybook. And this story includes a bride & groom who are beautiful people inside and out. The ceremony had everyone in tears, even the groomsmen. When Dale looks at Kristen, it’s as though he’s thinking, “God, I am the luckiest man in the world.” And when Kristen looks up at Dale, you know she’s thinking, “God, I am the luckiest girl in the world.” When two people mutually love each other that much now, can you even imagine what their love will be like 50 years from now?

Anyhow, there was little bit of downtime during the first part of the day and so Alin and I had decided to mess around with the HD video functions with our 5D Mark II’s. We are definitely not these guys, and nor do we intend to ever switch over to wedding cinematography (there’s just no time for it), but it’s something that we had a little bit of extra time to do on this day, and hopefully it’s a pleasant surprise for Kristen & Dale. Charlotte Engagement Photography – Saundra & Steven

I met Saundra & Steven at the reception of a recent wedding I shot, and soon scheduled their engagement session. They drove down from Raleigh to Charlotte for their session and when they got here, we experienced one of the scariest and most violent storms that I have ever encountered. And we just kept on shooting straight away through it. Even when we stood at the train station, and the wind was blowing the rain sideways, beating on Courtney while she struggled to maintain her balance and keep the umbrella to somewhat shield my equipment. I have never seen so much lighting or heard so much loud thunder in my life. Saundra remained calm. She reassured us that if anything happened, she was an E.R. doctor and that we’d be okay in the end. Thanks for that Dr. Jackson. Heehee. Anyhow, no matter how much sky to ground lightning there was around us, there was a lot more electricity in the way these two looked at each other. (You know I had to go there.) Saundra and Steven, thank you for having a wonderful attitude throughout our session together, despite the weather (see video at the bottom of this post to see what I mean). I cannot wait to fly down to Florida this spring for the wedding! I will be praying that all hurricanes will not be happening while I’m there.

Casting Call for Female Models, Makeup Artists & Hair Stylists ~ Charleston, SC

I will be shooting some high fashion bridal editorials for a very high profile up and coming wedding gown designer. I’ll give you a hint: this person was one of Project Runway’s top two finalists. This person has entrusted me to provide unique, original images for upcoming shows, and possibly even some magazine ads! I do not want to say who this person is, since I want to kind of keep this on the down low until the big reveal of the photos, and so here are the details of this shoot and who I need:

Models (this person is looking for women with “pixie-esque” qualities. Preferably reddish/auburn hair with light eyes, but is open to others)
Makeup Artists
Hair Stylists

Since I’m the one doing this shoot, I have decided to compensate as TFCD (a.k.a “trade for CD”). Basically all models, makeup artist and hair stylist will be given a CD with all of the high resolution edited images from this shoot to use for their own portfolios as a thank you for your participation.

REAL Recipe Mondays ~ Caroline’s Famous Crab Dip

I know Monday’s are supposed to be Totally Rad Action Recipe Mondays, but today, I wanted to share a real cooking recipe, with it being the holidays and all. And by the way, I pretty much call all of my cooking recipes famous, not because they are, but because they should be. This is my own recipe for making crab dip. It is ridiculously good & uber-simple to make!

Ingredients:

(3) 6 oz. cans of Trader Joe’s Canned Crab Meat
(1) small finely chopped shallot
(1) 8oz. package of cream cheese (softened)
(4 tbspn. Organic Mayonnaise
1/2 tspn. ground pepper
1/2 tspn. dry mustard
1/4 tspn. cayenne pepper
1/4 tspn. garlic powder

Directions:

Drain the crab meat from its container. Combine the crab meat & all ingredients in bowl and mix together. Cool in fridge for at least 1 hour before serving, so that it sets. Serve with some whole grain crackers for a healthy New Year’s party appetizer!

Easy-peezy, right? Feel free to substitute the organic mayo for real mayo or the Trader Joe’s crab meat for any brand of crab meat. I chose to make mine with natural/organic ingredients
