…I realized I was probably going to need some help. So! For those of you interested in this internship opportunity, here are the details:

Start & End Dates: 09/09/2010-11/19/2010
Work Days (in office): Mon-Fri from 9am-1pm (*unpaid)
Work Days (wedding days): 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13 (*paid at $15/hr from start of wedding to end of wedding)

Basically when you are in my office, we will be editing (a lot), doing emails, customer service, ordering, packaging, shipping, etc… and that will be from 9am-1pm. I would encourage bringing your notebook, iPad, laptop, or whatever to take LOTS of notes. I am VERY generous with the information I give out to people who help me and so be prepared to learn lots. I will do everything I can to help you with whatever it is that you need help on. I shoot manually and process naturally and so I will help you achieve that. You may need to be prepared to spend the money, if applicable, on getting a website, blog, marketing, equipment, software, etc… I will tell you what works for me and pass that on to you and help customize it to fit your personal needs. You must be prepared to work hard, learn lots, and did I say work hard?

My ideal intern would be someone who learns quickly, is attentive, organized, and diligent. You must also possess a random and sarcastic sense of humor, have the ability to laugh at just about anything and you must immediately fall in like love with my children the minute you meet them.

As far as wedding day shooting, some will be in town, and some may be on road trips that may or may not require spending the night. $15/hour will be paid from the time the wedding starts to the time the wedding ends. No pay will be given during driving, or spending the night. We will pay you in good times, I promise (haha).

I would prefer the intern be in or near Charlotte, NC however if you are coming from out of state, you would need to rent out your own place nearby and cover your own costs for living.

PHOTOGRAPHY INTERN (JUNE-SEPTEMBER):
This is an unpaid internship, except for wedding day gigs (see below). You will assist me & observe while I shoot on-location sessions, as well as work with me in-studio with editing, office work and post-production work. In return for your internship, I will do my best to teach you what I know as we go through the motions of each day. Basically how I shoot, edit, and run my photography company. I will also try and give you creative projects to work on as well as encourage you to shoot your own projects. I will offer you assignments, critique your work and give advice when asked of me. Think of it as a one on one mentorship/apprenticeship using hands on learning and without paying ridiculous workshop fees. You cannot possibly learn everything there is to know about running a photography company successfully in a one or two day workshop. I will be shooting a few destination weddings this summer, as well as around 8 somewhat local weddings (so far) that are within (a couple hundred miles) driving distance, where the intern will be hired on as a second-shooter & assistant. (You’ll be riding with us). The intern will be paid $200/wedding day gig and must be prepared to be there ALL DAY LONG.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a quick & eager learner, teachable, a problem-solver, & very creative. Intern needs to be interested in photographing weddings, maternity, babies, and/or fashion, etc… Lastly, you (the intern) must be a loyal person by nature. I believe myself to be very fair and loyal to others, and I do not respond well to being “screwed over”.

DAYS & HOURS NEEDED:
Needed Monday-Fridays from 8am-1pm (Monday-Thursday if working a Saturday wedding)

7. I prefer students/ex-students. Basically, I would rather you not already own a fully-blown photography business (unless you are from out of state).
8. Let me know your available start date between June & September where you can work 12 weeks.
9. You must possess the ability to laugh at just about anything. And I mean anything.

I will be shooting some high fashion bridal editorials for a very high profile up and coming wedding gown designer. I’ll give you a hint: this person was one of Project Runway’s top two finalists. This person has entrusted me to provide unique, original images for upcoming shows, and possibly even some magazine ads! I do not want to say who this person is, since I want to kind of keep this on the down low until the big reveal of the photos, and so here are the details of this shoot and who I need:

Models (this person is looking for women with “pixie-esque” qualities. Preferably reddish/auburn hair with light eyes, but is open to others)
Makeup Artists
Hair Stylists

Since I’m the one doing this shoot, I have decided to compensate as TFCD (a.k.a “trade for CD”). Basically all models, makeup artist and hair stylist will be given a CD with all of the high resolution edited images from this shoot to use for their own portfolios as a thank you for your participation.
