Recipe Mondays No. 6 { Totally Rad Actions }

Alrighty then! So now that I have given you a REAL Recipe earlier today, I’ll bet you didn’t think I would post a Rad Actions recipe as well, did you? Lucky for you, I had TWO treats in store for you today and now here is my sixth installment of Recipe Mondays using Totally Rad Actions!

Here’s the original of a beautiful baby boy I shot a couple of weeks back.
001-original1

Adjusted the curves via Photoshop CS4.

Yin/Yanged around the eyes a little.

I then flattened the image and clone stamped the background to remove the black part of the background.

I then used the Yin/Yang tool again and “Yin’d” the background to get rid of the dark splotches.

Boutwell Magic Glasses at 60% opacity.

Flatten the image once again and desaturate in Photoshop.

Milk & Cookies at 35% opacity. Then turn down the TWEAK! to 50% and the highlight pinch down to 70%.

Now do Boring Selenium at 40% to give it a warmer black & white tone.

So now here’s your before & after. What do you guys think? I’d love to hear your thoughts!!

Curtis Farmer - Beeee-u-tee-ful! Funny, I hadn’t thought about doing a desat before running the black and white action. Kind of makes sense… to keep the darker colors from overpowering the image perhaps? Thanks for sharing!

Alex Palma - Beautiful treatment…..what a change. That bab was already beautiful in the ‘before’ photo but what an impact the ‘after’ photo displays. Great Job!
