Maternity Photography ~ Dana & Joe ~ Charlotte Maternity Photographer

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dana & Joe! They are so stylish and their house was such a perfect setting for their maternity session. There was beautiful window light in every room. And of course Dana is as pretty as can be. This girl was all belly! Thank you guys for allowing me to come into your home and document this amazing milestone in your life!

This could be a Banana Republic Maternity ad. They don’t make maternity BUT the colors, lighting and Dana’s look just screams out Banana Republic to me;)

Their bathtub area had amazing window light and I thought we could have some fun with bubbles.

Enter, Joe. After their home we headed out to the Latta Plantation (one of my favorite places to shoot). Aren’t they such a cutie-patutie couple? I believe I may have told them that they were so adorable that I wanted to put them in my pocket.

I played around with some art history painting brush in Photoshop. This image was originally a little out of focus, but I wanted to save it, so I thought what better way, eh? The painting part is actually very time consuming and tedious but well worth it.

And of course I had to end the session with trees & the sun. My favorite:)

Engagement Session ~ Jessica & Jay ~ Charlotte Portrait Photographer

First of all, just want to say that I am uber-excited about shooting Jessica & Jay’s wedding next year in St. Maarten in the Bahamas! Now what can I say about these two? Jessica was upbeat and ever so excited about the session, and Jay, well -let’s just say like any other guy wasn’t as fond of doing this as she was. The session was full of humidity, rain, sarcasm, and boats. We started off the session uptown, because they both work in buildings opposite from each other and is essentially where they first met. It was raining lightly. Or maybe the air was so thick with humidity it turned into mist? I don’t know. But I love the way they turned out, nonetheless. And I think I got a few good smiles out of Jay and some great moments between them two;)

Then we headed out to downtown Davidson to get a few shots before they jumped out of a boat into Lake Norman. Yea, you heard me.

Now off to Lake Norman. I snapped this while they were gettin’ their boat ready.
jessica-jay-012

Love how they bickered with each other. Mainly because he didn’t want to jump in the boat and that it was all her idea. Of course I got a little blame because I’m the photographer and he thought maybe I had something to do with getting the “shot” or something. But I told him it wasn’t me!
jessica-jay-013

He didn’t believe me, so he went crazy-style fast on the boat to the “jumping” location, disregarding what the wind would do to my hair. So he got me back. My bangs grew about 3 times the size from all the wet air that hit me in the face on the way.
jessica-jay-014

So before the “jump” off the boat. I told them I wanted a couple of test shots before the real deal. Here are a few test shots just before the jump that I thought were hilarious.

Now here is a series from the jump into the water. Now keep in mind, I was trying to keep my balance on the boat and also trying to keep the back of the boat out of the picture too. Their facial expressions are hilarious. Especially Jay’s;)

See you two in St. Maarten!
