WPJA Contest Placement! ~ Charlotte Wedding Photographer

WoW! I was out for dinner with Alin last night and at some point during it, I mentioned to him that I would be so happy if any of my images placed at all for the current WPJA contest. I got home, and went on to their website to update my listing only to find that one of my images had placed 9th in the ‘Kids Being Kids’ category! I am so incredibly happy, I could do cartwheels! What I love most about the WPJA is that they rejected my application to become a member over 7 times and it only made me work harder to be better. When I got in, it was one of the happier days of my life because it was something I worked real hard for. Then I placed in their current contest and I am just even happier! Okay, I know some of you are thinking, so what? It’s NINTH place! Ninth! Well it means tons to me and I hope that this will only push me to get better and work harder towards getting First Place the next time around. There were some pretty amazing images that won. Check them out here: here!

Engagement Session in Charleston, SC ~ Mikey & Laura ~ Charleston Portrait Photographer

My brother & his wife (Genaro & Gaby) came to visit us from Phoenix and I was so incredibly happy to see them. His best friend Mikey also came with his fiancee, Lora (Gaby’s sister) and they wanted an engagement session done in Charleston. So well all rented out a beach house, them, us, my kids, and my parents & little sis’ together and enjoyed Charleston for about three days. I ♥ Charleston, and I was so excited to be doing a session there. I realize I still haven’t blogged Alin & I’s overnight getaway there from July and I promise it’s coming. I have been real busy catching up on editing and also working on new shoots, and so I haven’t had very much time to work on my personal stuff.

ANYWAY! Mikey & Lora are two of the nicest people I know, and both have huge hearts. I had an amazing time shooting these two!

First we headed over to Angel Oak, which is a tree believed to be over 1400 years old. Considering that Mikey and Lora have a thing for nature & history, what more perfect place could we start our session?

I told them I needed to do a spider web shot. As terrified as I am of spiders (especially this ginormous), this web was way to cool to pass up.

Next we headed to downtown Charleston, near King Street, and did a whole bunch of neat shots here. These two are so photogenic it’s ridiculous.

When I saw this chair perched on the wall, I just knew this scene was created for me.

Thanks Mikey and Lora! I had so much fun, and I wish you two all the best on your wedding day! I wish I could be there!

Wedding Outtakes ~ Johanna

While editing Johanna’s wedding pictures, I found this shot and it made me smile. Kinda’ fun to see what happens moments before the “real shot” is taken.
