The Many Sleeping Faces of Genevieve ~ Charlotte Newborn Photographer

The other night, Alin and I were Facebooking together and he was holding sleeping Genevieve in his arms. We were cracking up so hard because it seemed as if she was dreaming and it was so fun watching her facial expressions change every few seconds. Keep in mind also that she is exactly 7 days old in these shots! Here are some of our favorite expressions:

Portraits of Princess Genevieve ~ Charlotte Newborn Photographer

So I will keep words to a minimum with this post. Alin and I spent hours with Genevieve together in order to get these shots. I will admit, it was a lot harder to photograph her, than I thought it was going to be…but well worth it. Also, a special thanks to my husband for putting up with me today! I love you babe!

The following blue crocheted beanie was handmade by Preppy Peach Boutique on Etsy, and also added a litle brooch of my own on it. I LOVE her stuff!!!

Our Little Princess ~ Genevieve

Last Sunday night was my night to go in and be induced. Why induction? I did it with my other three boys and I also do not like surprises. I liked knowing the date, and knowing what to expect. Let’s just say, I got what I wanted except things didn’t go EXACTLY as I had expected them to. With all three boys, I had an epidural that worked flawlessly all the way up until the very end. With this one, I truly expected nothing less. In a nutshell, what happened was that I was dilated at 1cm for 18 hours. No progress, nothing. The next thing you know it goes from 1cm-5cm in an hour an 20 minutes. This is where I suddenly started regaining some feeling in my stomach area and was feeling the contractions coming on. I told the nurse that I was feeling them and they were getting pretty strong and painful with each passing one. She gave me a button to push that would inject a higher dose of the epidural, but it did not work. At this point, I was in so much pain, that I was gripping the rails, my husband was trying to calm me down and talking to me. I know he was asking questions and so was the anesthesiologist, but I was in my own world of pure torture and couldn’t talk. What was going through my mind was that I couldn’t believe this was happening to me, and that I had not prepared myself to experience such pain. The anesthesiologist injected more of the epidural but warned me that since I was dilating so quickly, it may not work effectively, and I freaked out, because I did not want want to feel any more pain. I am a big baby, I know. Call me what you want, I don’t care. Anyway, I went from 5cm to 10cm in just ten minutes! Oh my God! THANKFULLY though, all it took was one push and she was here. And when I saw her, I immediately forgot about the pain. It was all worth it. I thank my husband for giving me the most beautiful little girl, and I thank God most of all that He blessed me with a healthy girl.

This is me just a few hours before going in.
