Snow Day in Charlotte!…sort of

Okay so many of you know that I am originally from Chicago. At least that is where I spent most of my life before moving to AZ for 8 years and now in Charlotte. Yesterday I woke up to snow. There wasn’t much on the ground, but I knew if I didn’t get the kids outside right away to play with whatever snow they had, that it could disappear before we all knew it. Sure enough after about 12 in the afternoon, most of the snow had disappeared from our yard, but I took some photos of my boys while they were out playing. It was REALLY cold outside. It was about 25 degrees and felt like 15 degrees. Brrrrrr! They had fun.

What was even weirder was that later on in the day we drove towards Stonecrest Shopping center which is just a few miles away from our house it seemed like everyone else there got a lot more snow than we did, maybe about 4 inches or so. So we drove around those areas to see it all and the kids wanted to get out and walk around and so we did. Mind you it was after dark (about 6:30pm) and it was still about 25 degrees with a windchill of about 10 degrees. Double Brrrrrrrrr!

So we walked around the Stonecrest Shoping center and literally just about every shop was closed and had signs posted up on their windows reading: “Closed early due to weather conditions”. Are you serious??? In Chicago, I experienced a day that had a wind chill factor of 75 degrees BELOW zero with snow up to my knees and I STILL had to go to school! Charlotte closes down and calls it a “snow day” when it flurries ever so lightly. Surely I thought they were joking, but apparently, that is how it works around here.

So here are some snapshots from yesterday morning when we had a few hours of a taste of snow in our yard.

Yes I know. I’m wearing flip flops. In snow. That’s one habit I never left behind, living in Phoenix.

Tristan & Charlie. They are so adorable, my little men.

Me and my boys.

Alan & my boys.

Charlie. Smart. Handsome. Daddy’s boy.

Tristan. Clever. Sharing. Mischievous.

The boys walking up and down our street enjoying the weather. Funny how they all seem to be walking the exact same way with their hands in their pockets.

Newborn Photography Session ~ Baby Alberta ~ Charlotte Newborn Photographer

Okay so I know I haven’t posted here in a while and if you read my last post, it was because I was not able to upload any more photos to my blog due to the fact that I needed to upgrade my blog to a more recent version to work with the new flash player. Until that upgrade happens, it seems I will still be able to upload using my laptop for some reason, so that is what I am doing now.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to shoot a newborn session for my friends here in Charlotte. They are a beautiful couple and of course beautiful mommy + handsome daddy = perfect baby girl! Alberta is such a lucky little girl to have such wonderful and loving parents in her life. This is truly one blessed family.

Sick Child ~ New Blog in the Making

Hi everyone! So I am not ignoring the blog. I just have some things I need to take care of first. My two year old son has come down with pneumonia and after a long doctor’s visit yesterday and two LONG NIGHTS of waking up every 20 minutes to tend to him, I am just exhausted. On top of that he has been having some asthma issues which I thought had disappeared once we left Arizona in May, but it seems to have come back now that pneumonia kicked in with him. Family is always first and I will be working on editing, orders, and emails during his nap times, but he needs my full attention when he is awake. I ask that you all pray for him for a speedy recovery because it is not easy on him, nor my husband and I to see him deal with this.

Also, my blog has been hacked into a lot lately and have been trying to delete between 50-100 spam comments a day that are left on my blog by these morons. As a result of this, I am not able to upload any new images and I have so much to share! So I am also in the process of updating and upgrading my blog to a new look as well as taking care of these spam issues in the process of it all.

So that’s that! Thanks to you all who have been following me! I appreciate your support more than anything, and I will BTYL! (Blog To You Later!)
