I’m having a girl!!!

Oh my goodness! After three boys, ages 3, 2, and 9 months, God has finally decided to bless me with a girl! For the last three years, it felt almost as though I was living in a boy’s locker room. Finally! A reason for pink! (Which happens to be my favorite color). I love my three boys to death, and now I can spice it up a little with some girl drama and diva attitude! Woohoo! According to my most recent ultrasound, she seems to have a healthy heart and a great looking spine and I am the most happy and blessed about that. We are going to name her Genevieve. I have loved the french culture since I was a little girl and knew that if I ever had a daughter, that she would get a French name. I am so excited!

Blog Pictures: Okay so I know I haven’t posted any new photos recently but that is because I sold my camera and bought the new Canon 5D Mark II which still hasn’t hit stores yet. I am waiting for mine to ship from B&H photo and I cannot wait! I hope to God I get it before Christmas, because, frankly, I would be very annoyed if I couldn’t capture the Christmas festivities with this awesome new camera! So I apologize to those who have been waiting for something new. Be patient! Once I get it in my hands, I will shooting away once again! Yay!

Before you go, watch this. Probably one of the best sermons I have ever heard.

Little Angels Ministries

Hi! So! For the past year, I have had a heavy burden on my heart for moms and dads who are expecting a child but do not have the funds, let alone the luxury, to buy some of the things they need for their little ones. After giving birth, many moms leave the hospital with just their babies in blanket and cannot afford to buy a car seat. I realize that today’s economy is tough on many of us, and as a matter of fact my family is going through the toughest financial times of our life together. HOWEVER, I also know that there will always be someone in worse shape than me. There will always be someone who has been living poorly much longer, and may have never known what it is like to own something nice and new. I realize this won’t effect the economical situation much, BUT I strongly feel that if we can help each other in little ways like what I am about to suggest, that it would make a lasting impression in this blink of time in these families’ lives. Then when they are financially able to, they would hopefully pay it forward. Pay it Forward.

This is why I feel that the Lord has laid it on my heart to start Little Angels Ministries. I can’t provide new homes or cars for these families, but with the help of my friends, family, community, and YOU, I am praying and hoping that I can show up PERSONALLY in their hospital room with many baby gifts for them to take home, that they may have never been able to afford.

And just so you know, though my passion is for the expecting parents and their newborns, I would NEVER leave out any other children that these families may already have. I will most assuredly try my best to take care of ALL of their children in whichever way that I can.

How can you help? There are SO many ways for you to help including donating your good used & new items, and even your time! Here are ways you can help:

ITEMS WE NEED OR COULD USE:
*Wicker Baskets/Empty Gift Baskets (These will be needed to put together
gift baskets for the mom when arriving at the hospital)
*Strollers
*Car Seats
*Diapers
*Wipes
*Baby Clothing
*Toddler Clothing
*Kids & Teen Clothing
*Maternity Clothing
*Adult Clothing (for teh VERY unfortunate parents)
*Shoes of ALL sizes (Babies, Kids, and Adults)
*Bouncers
*Gyms & Playmats
*Stationary Entertainers
*Walkers & Jumpers
*Swings
*Playards
*Baby Skin care & Rash Creams
*Changing Tables & Supplies
*Diaper Pails & Refills
*Bottles
*Breastfeeding Supplies (Pumps, Breast Pads, Nursing Bras)
*Formula
*High Chairs & Booster Seats
*Bibs & Burp Cloths
*Nursing Pillows & Stools
*Solid Foods
*Diaper Bags
*Child Carriers
*Shopping Cart Seats
*Bathing Items
*Potty Training Items
*Safety Gates
*Health & Baby Care
*Monitors
*Humidifiers & Vaporizers
*Pacifiers & Teethers
*Nursery Bedding
*Nursery Furniture
*Nursery Décor
*Baby & Children’s Books
*Baby & Children’s Toys
*Preggie Pop Drop Candies (for the VERY nauseous expecting mommy)

ITEMS THAT WOULD MAKE A GREAT LUXURY GIFT:
*Memory Albums, Scrapbooks, etc (for the crafty mom who would like to document
her family memories but does not have the means to)
*Digital Cameras/Video Cameras, etc (Used or New) for the mom & dad who could
never afford something like this but will be forever grateful that they
can now be able to document moments and memories with their family
*Spa/Salong Gift Certificates (for the VERY tired mommies) ; )

SERVICES THAT YOU COULD OFFER:
*Photography services
-It would be great if photographers in the Charlotte area could offer
their time to do portrait sessions for these families and give them a
set of prints and/or enlargements and/or CD with images.

*Babysitting/Nanny services/Mommy’s Helper
-If you are excellent with children and would like to offer yourself
to babysit for any of the families either one night a week, one night
per month, or some of you can EVEN offer yourselves everyday so that
one or both of the parents may be able to go out and work. Also, even
helping out a mother a couple of hours a week with dishes or cleaning
so she could have some time for herself would be ever so helpful!

*Remodeling & Handyman Services
-There may be a few opportunities where we could really use one or a few
of you handy men (or women) out there that would be willing to offer
your skills and help a crumbling home or repair a few things in the
home that could make family’s life easier and their home more
liveable.

****************************

Now, what I have mentioned above are just a FEW ways you could help. Please keep cleanliness in mind. Bottles, Pacifiers, nursing bras and such should be brand new and unused. So far, this is all I could come up with, but please, if you have any other way of helping, I would surely appreciate your input, ideas, and help.

When we deliver the good news to these parents (either in the hospital or in their home), we will also be ministering to them about the good Lord Jesus and will be by providing them a bible (in their language if applicable), and other resources for getting closer to the Lord.

I am just starting out with this organization and with Christmas approaching, I wanted to get a headstart right away. I am currently working on filing Non-Profit paperwork to make this all legit. Until that paperwork is filed, I cannot provide you with any guarantees that what you donate can be deducted from your taxes. Also, monetary donations are gladly accepted, however until my non-profit status is approved, I cannot guarantee that you can use it as a tax deduction. But you may make monetary donations once I have gained non-profit status.

HOW DO I DONATE?
There are a few ways.

1. You can contact me via email letting me know how you can help.

2. You may drop off any items at any of the following locations:

Calvary Way Church
2432 Williams Road
Matthews, NC 28105
(Open Wednesday nights from 7:00pm-9:00pm)
(Open Sunday Nights from 5:00pm-8:00pm)
(Or drop off anytime of the week underneath the front porch area) *Please
leave your name and address or email info so that we can thank you.

If you are near the Carowinds Amusement Park area or near I-485 & S. Tryon
Street, you may email me (via Craigslist) for instructions on how to drop
off donations in that area too.

If you are out of state and would like to participate, please email me for mailing address.

3. Tell everyone you know that can help!

Thank you so much in advance, and God bless you dearly!

carrie scruggs - I may have some things for you – I’ll take a look around

Camera-less : (

Okay so for those of you who have been following this blog, I just want to let you know that I am not ignoring this. I just have so much to catch up on, AND I currently don’t have a camera since I sold the one I had and am getting the Canon 5D Mark II which hasn’t come out yet (but will very soon!) So as soon as I get that baby in my hands I will have MUCH MUCH more to post. For now, I am trying to catch up and lighten my load in preparation for a very busy 2009!

RE: My Pregnancy
So, I am currently about 18 weeks pregnant, and I am feeling AWESOME!!! I have got crazy back and joint pains, but I am used to that and can handle it. What I cannot handle is nausea. I had very severe nausea with my three boys throughout my entire pregnancy 24/7 and it was torture! But with this pregnancy, I feel pretty darn good. No nausea! For once I can actually enjoy being pregnant! Yay! So this is my last and I have a hunch that it is a girl and will be finding out very soon! Keep you posted!
