Wedding Photography~ Katie & Jason Part 2~ Charlotte Wedding Photographer

Okay so I posted a very small sneak peek late Friday night from Katie & Jason’s wedding as soon as I got home from there. I just couldn’t resist. Well I was working on a longer blog post today and honestly had a VERY hard time narrowing down my personal favorites for this blog entry, so this will be a longer than normal post. Before you start looking at the photos, here is a little bit of a story behind these photos.

This was my first wedding without my husband there assisting me and I HUGELY depend on him to keep my head straight when it comes to driving and not losing my equipment, let alone my mind. Well, I had asked Carrie Scruggs to assist in second shooting for me on this day. Anyhow, on the way to pick her up, I thought “oh I should put gas”, but that was the last time that thought crossed my mind before heading out for the two hour drive to the ceremony. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere on Highway “what’s his face”, my car starts to choke and then I felt the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when I realized I had forgotten to put gas. We got out of the car on the side of the highway and I personally had no idea what to do to get people’s attention, so I just did what I had seen people on tv do. Pointing with my thumb. LOL! After about ten minutes, a cop goes by and I wave him down like crazy but he passes by and I’m like “Are you serious? Did he just ignore us?” Probably not, since another cop pulled up behind us minutes later and walks over to us. As embarrassed as ever, I tell him that we had run out of gas and that we were headed out to shoot a wedding. (THANKFULLY, I had decided to leave an extra hour earlier for the road trip, just in case something were to happen). So he told us to hop into the back of his cop car and he would take us to the nearest gas station to buy some gas. So he did. On the way there and back, he told us some really funny stories and were laughing away and I started to wonder what the outsiders were thinking. To the outsiders we were to arrested females having a great laugh with our new cop friend in the back of his car. So I knew that looked funny. I bought two 2 gallon tank bottles, filled them up with gas and we were taken back to our car, where the nice policeman proceeded to help us fill our car with gas. After all was done we thanked him very much and headed on our way (after filling up of course). We arrived to the UNCG Alumni House exactly on time, believe it or not!

Okay, so now about Katie & Jason. She had told me at our consultation that she would be real minimal with floral decor and keeping the wedding as “green” as possible also. There was also going to be no dancing, no bouquet or garter toss, and cheese and crackers with a lot of mingling. As simplistic as everything was, I was blown away by the amount of love that was shown between family members with Katie & Jason. I was even more blown away by the amount of love and emotion Katie & Jason shown towards each other. All in all, this was probably one of my favorite weddings so far.

Funny story. I had been telling Carrie (my second shooter) when asked what Jason does for a living, that he is a Fabio impersonator of some sort and that he looked like he was really good at it. I had come to this conclusion when I had seen a photo that Katie had posted in her online personal album of Jason and the subtitle showed “Fabio”. Stupid me, I asked Katie & Jason before the reception started, if that is what he did, and they both just busted out laughing. Apparently, that is just how he looked on a normal day back then. So I got permission from Katie to post this, but I just had to so you know what I am talking about. Here it is. Jason as Fabio (err…himself)!

And now on to the wedding photos!

This was their first meet. I love how happy she looks here.

I didn’t even tell them to kiss here. She just grabbed his face and for some reason, the way he is looking at her here is so captivating.

Isn’t Fall beautiful? Even better is a wedding in Fall.

Prayer before the ceremony.

I love the way she is laughing here.

He was saying the nicest things about her.

I love her expression especially as they were headed out to the car. But not without a few rose petals being thrown at them.

Have fun in Antigua, you two! Stay tuned for Part III of Katie & Jason’s wedding when I post images from their day after celebration at the parents’ lake home in Mt. Holly!

Oh my goodness, did I love to photograph Katie & Jason! They LOVE the camera (which helps me), and more importantly, they really love each other. You could just see the adoration in their eyes when they looked at each other and you could sense it in their body language too. The ceremony took place at the historic Alumni House at UNCG (University of North Carolina in Greensboro). Tomorrow, I will be taking photos at their day after barbecue celebration and will be posting up previews from that event as well. More to come on their photos, plus, a pretty funny “mini-road-trip” story about some things that happened along the way to Greensboro. I want to give a very special “Thank You” to Carrie Scruggs of Carrie Scruggs Photography, who helped assist me tonight as a second shooter. My husband usually does this, however he is still in AZ with my kids and I will be meeting up with them again on Monday night. For now, check out this tiny sneak peek from tonight!

Wedding Photography~ Angie & Ruben ~ Phoenix Wedding Photographer

Angie & Ruben had a beautiful wedding! The details were crazy cool. Angie was beautiful, and Ruben looked spiffy in his euro suit. Their reception took place at the Glendale Renaisssance Hotel & Spa, and I loved the flower details at the reception. Enjoy!
